Sheep Meadow and Great Lawn are two immense meadows located in Central Park with stunning views over Manhattan. Here I recommend that you go, on a sunny weekend day, to one of the multiple delis in New York (or a typical hotdog cart that has a crowd in the park), you buy your food and a towel or blanket you sit in these meadows to enjoy a sunny day as you will see that many New Yorkers do.

Great Lawn

Great Lawn It is located at E84th street, right next to the Metropolitan Museum and the Natural History Museum. It is a large meadow, located approximately in the center of Central Park, which has several marked baseball fields, so it is common to see people practicing in them or playing a game.

If you go to it, do not forget to visit these two museums, and get closer to Belvedere Castle, a castle in the middle of Central Park, its lake, which is called Turtle Pond, and Shakespeare Garden, where free performances of Shakespeare's plays are made in July and August during the celebration of the Shakespeare in the Park festival.

Also, if you go to the Metropolitan Museum in the summer do not forget to go up to the museum's terrace, from where you can see a pretty complete view of Central Park and the whole Manhattan area that surrounds it.

Sheep Meadow

Sheep Meadow however, it is closer to downtown Manhattan, at the height of W66th Street, very close to Tavern on the Green.

In this case, a visit to the Dakota building, where Lennon lived and whose doors were murdered, is located on W72th Street, and visit his garden tribute in Central Park, the famous Strawberry Fields right next to the building. Going down the park you will quickly reach Sheep Meadow, a beautiful meadow with spectacular views of Manhattan, and where you will see many people having a picnic.
